Mel has been a part of Mount Annan Leisure Centre for nearly 19 years, and her journey is a true example of dedication and resilience. When her children all started school, she made the empowering decision to do something just for herself – and that’s when her fitness journey began.
Group fitness classes are the heart of Mel’s routine. Whether it’s a quick 30-minute session or a more intense 45-minute workout, she thrives in the energy of the group. Training alongside others keeps her motivated, and the support and guidance of the instructors help her stay on track and push her limits.
Over the years, Mel has achieved fantastic results, including reaching her peak fitness and toning her muscles. More recently, she’s been navigating the challenges of menopause, focusing on losing weight and maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle despite the changes.
Through all the ups and downs, being part of this gym community has made a huge difference in her life. The friendships she’s built and the strong sense of belonging continue to inspire her. In fact, one of the classes she attends regularly has created its own social circle, with catch ups at least four times a year – proving that fitness and fun truly go hand in hand.
Mel’s story is a testament to what consistency, community, and self-care can achieve. Her journey is inspiring to others who may be thinking of putting themselves first and starting something new.
